Mainstem Malt, Now Certified B-Corp Pending

On October 13, 2016, Mainstem Malt officially received its Certified B-Corp Pending status from B-Lab. The "B" stands for Benefit. In essence, this starts a 12-month process of ensuring that our environmentally and socially positive brand is backed by more than just fluffy marketing. When we complete this process, we'll join the ranks of 1897 Certified B-Corps and counting, including some world famous ones like Patagonia, New Belgium, and Ben & Jerry's. As B-Lab puts it, we're all part of "a global movement of people using business as a force for good (TM)."

More personally, I see this effort as a "Benefit fitness plan" of sorts for Mainstem Malt. As a company like this grows, from its infancy to a measurable force in the marketplace, there are countless dynamics with potential to lead it astray from good intentions. A personal fitness plan of eating wholesome foods, staying active, and being engaged helps to keep our bodies and minds healthy. A Benefit fitness plan of education, implementation, and engagement with a mission-driven business community, all facilitated by our B-Corp certification, will help to keep Mainstem Malt driven towards the missions that truly matter to our supporters.
